How to Use a Mica Plate

To use a mica plate for burning resin incense, begin by preparing your charcoal burner with a layer of sand or ash to insulate the heat and protect the surface. Light a charcoal disc using a long lighter or match, holding it with a pair of tongs until it begins to spark and glow red. Once the charcoal is lit, place it securely on the sand or ash in your burner and allow it to sit for 2 to 5 minutes until a thin layer of ash forms on the surface, indicating it is fully heated. Then, place a mica plate—a thin, heat-resistant sheet made from natural mica stone—directly on top of the lit charcoal. The mica plate will serve as a barrier between the charcoal and the resin, allowing the resin to melt and release its aroma gently without direct contact with the intense heat.

Next, use a small spoon or spatula to place a few pieces of resin incense, such as those of our Ritual Resin Incense, onto the center of the mica plate. The mica plate diffuses the heat from the charcoal, allowing the resin to melt slowly and evenly, releasing its fragrant smoke gradually. This method prevents the resin from burning too quickly, resulting in a cleaner and more controlled aromatic experience. You can adjust the position of the mica plate on the charcoal to regulate the heat if needed, using tongs to carefully shift it without touching it directly. Continue to add more resin as desired, and enjoy the extended burn time and smoother fragrance. When finished, allow the mica plate and charcoal to cool completely before handling or cleaning, ensuring that all tools are stored safely for future use.
